We obtained our Red Dorkings at the Superior Farms dispersal. They are the right size and have good type. They are very good layers of a large white egg.
Dorkings have a history of laying a few eggs and then setting and being difficult to break up. We have not had that problem with them. They will set if you leave the eggs in the nests but if you gather the eggs we have not had a problem with excessive broodiness.
Dorkings are extremely rare. They are a good homestead heritage breed.
Standard weights are: cock 9 lbs. hen 7 lbs. ckl.8 lbs.pullet 6 lbs.
